Three Terrifyingly Delicious DIY Desserts

The spookiest week of the year is upon us!

What better way to celebrate any holiday than being in the kitchen crafting festive desserts? But maybe you need some help on what sort of delicious monster to bring to life… Don’t worry! We have three exotic spooky treats that you can whip up and decorate using high-quality, USA made ingredients, that are sure to taste exceptional and leave a lasting/haunting impression.

1. Pumpkin Patch Dirt Cups

You can use a simple dirt cup recipe for the base of the dessert but then it’s time for the exciting part! We topped ours off with Jelly AND Sour Pumpkins, along with a Jack-O’-Lantern Pop to give it that fall pumpkin patch feel. Then, just for fun, we added Fall Non-Pareils to for an extra pop of color. Oh, and feel free to add some Foiled Chocolate Leaves on top too, because whoever said too much chocolate is a bad thing?!

2. Creepy Cake Pops

The most awesome characteristic about cake pops is that you can get creative with them very easily. We decided to make a Mummy, Ghost, Pumpkin, Jack-O’-Lantern, and Frankenstein for ours, but feel free to put your own twist on what you make! All you need is some cake and frosting of your choice and then shape it into a ball form.

Obviously, the most exciting part about cake pops is the decorating and all you need for any of these pops are Mini Marshmallows, Mini Chocolate Chips, melted White Chocolate, melted Dark Chocolate, and some OIL based food coloring! (Make certain that whatever food coloring you use IS OIL BASED and not water based or you’ll have a whole different kind of nightmare on your hands.)

Get creative! Get wild! Get spooky! Get silly! Just remember, high quality ingredients lead to high quality experiences!

3. Spooky Cupcakes

Lastly, we have these Spooky Cupcakes! Make your favorite cupcake recipe, whether Vanilla, Chocolate, Funfetti, with any color frosting and flavors you desire…literally anything works! Now bring the monster to life! Some premium candies we used include Pumpkin Spice Malt Balls, Spice Drops, Black Shoestring Licorice, Mini Chocolate Chips, and German Raspberries. But again, this is totally up to you! Construct your favorite creature or your sweetest nightmare.

Your Turn!

With only a couple days left until Halloween, we hope you’ll put your chef hats on and go to town in the kitchen. These are a perfect activity to do with kids of all ages, maybe even make it into a competition!
